NDT Quality Inspector


Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a NDT Quality Inspector in our Gadsden, AL location.

At Meyer, were pioneers in the transmission industry with a strong commitment to reducing the environmental impact of transmission lines. We were the first to use steel for tubular transmission poles and full-scale vertical testing, and the first to develop wood-equivalent steel poles. In addition to that, our engineering solutions for voltages up to 765kV are designed with our proprietary software and have been validated through years of comprehensive, full-scale structural testing.

What youll do:

Make visual and measured inspection of products to ensure conformance with standards and determine if product meets all requirements

Complete inspection records and reports and follows appropriate codes and regulations

May inspect materials or plates, outgoing materials, fittings, and welds throughout the manufacturing process

May perform x-ray, destructive, or nondestructive examination to verify specified dimension, strengths, and other quality factors using measuring instruments and inspection equipment

May perform magnetic particle inspection

May apply singular inspection process, such as hydrostatic tests

Familiar with appropriate codes and regualtions

Complete inspection records and reports

Follow all safety rules and practices

May be involved in safety committees or initiatives

Perform other duties as assigned


What youll need:

May be Welding Inspector Specialist (WIS) level II or Quality Inspection Specialist (QIS) level II or be able to achieve in 6 months

Familiarity with appropriate codes and regulations

Minimum 2 years experience in related position

Understands and applies quality science and tools

Proficient in the of inspection tools and measuring equipment

Certified to conduct and approve 2 NDE quality tests (such as bubble leak, dye penetrant, ultrasound) or Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)

CWI or NDT required

UT certification preferred

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience reviewing and inspecting structural welds

Ability to maintain good attendance

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
